What is the best time for dolphin and whale watching in Kalpitiya?

The prime season runs from November to April when the sea is calmest. Departures are early morning (around 6:00 AM – 6:30 AM) when hundreds of playful spinner dolphins pod together offshore.

How does the Wilpattu National Park safari work from Kalpitiya?

We arrange a private 4x4 safari jeep that picks you up early morning from the resort. Our experienced wildlife tracker guides you through Wilpattu’s unique natural lakes (Villus) to spot leopards, sloth bears, and elephants.

Are excursions safe and suitable for children and families?

Yes! All boat safaris provide certified child-sized life jackets, safety briefings, and experienced local skippers. Wilpattu jeep safaris are also very popular with families.

What happens in case of adverse marine weather?

Guest safety is our top priority. If ocean conditions or swell are deemed unsuitable by our skippers, dolphin or boat tours are flexibly rescheduled to the next clear window or credited to another experience.

What should we bring on our wildlife safari or boat trip?

We provide cold bottled water and safety gear. We recommend bringing sunglasses, a wide-brim hat, sunscreen, camera with a telephoto zoom or strap, and a light windbreaker for morning sea breezes.
