Do I need prior experience for kite lessons?

No — our beginner courses start from zero. Complete beginners are welcome; your IKO instructor progresses at your pace on the flat Kalpitiya lagoon.

When is the best wind season in Kalpitiya?

Prime kite season runs November to April with consistent thermal winds. Mornings and late afternoons are typically best; we confirm conditions before each session.

Is kite gear included in lessons and rentals?

Yes — lessons include full kite, board, harness, and safety equipment. Rentals include the core kit; wetsuits and advanced boards may be available on request.

Are there age or fitness requirements?

Most sessions welcome ages 10+ with parental consent for minors. Basic swimming ability and reasonable fitness help; your instructor adapts the session to your level.

What should I bring to my kite session?

Bring swimwear, sunscreen, sunglasses with a strap, a towel, and water. We provide helmets, impact vests, and all kite equipment at the lagoon launch.
